On the first day on Monsoon session attention was drawn on different issues related to plight of farmers across the country by members in Lok Sabha.
Jugal Kishore Sharma Member of Parliament Lok Sabha drew the attention of government towards the plight of farmers living near border and are facing hardship and losses due to border shelling and several other reasons.
While adding to his point he also informed Union Government that farmers of Samba, Kathua, Hiranagar, Rajouri, Samba living near borders are suffering a loss of their crops as much of their land comes on either side of fencing as a result of which much of their crop is either destroyed or they fail to harvest the land falling on the other side of fencing.
It is pertinent to mention here that thousand hectares of farming land of farmers living near border villages of Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch falls on either side of fencing between India Pakistan and most of the times the farmers are restricted to use this land for farming purposes, as a result heavy losses are suffered to the poor farmers.
The plight of farmers living on borders remain unaddressed by the successive governments and now while the attention of Union government is sought by the Member Parliament the farmers it is expected that issue of farmers losses on account of loss due to non utilization of particular land will be addressed and suitable policy will be framed to meet the losses of farmers
The farmers of borders always keep on demanding from several years that due compensation should be given to them for the crops they failed to harvest at times when firing or shelling is going on from either sides of India and Pakistan. Feeling hopeful farmers said that earlier also the government has listened to the plight of border people and much of the problems are being addressed, this problem will also be addressed by the Union government and a positive approach will be adopted to give due compensation to farmers whose land fall on other side of fencing.
