The population of the Earth has grown and changed long before we were taking scientific records of the development of the human race. Population growth isn’t caused entirely by more people having children, but also by the longer lifespans of individuals seen in many developed and developing nations. As healthcare, safety, and educational opportunities increase around the world people tend to live longer.

It was the huge challenge for the development when the population on the earth has reached to around 7 billion in the year 2011. It was the huge challenge for the development when the population on the earth has reached to around 7 billion in the year 2011. it was recommended that 11th of July every year should be noticed by the community globally and celebrated as the World Population Day in order to raise the awareness among common public and find out the real solutions to combat with the population issues. The growth rate of population is a function of migration, birth rate and death rate in a country. The difference between the birth rate and the death rate measures the growth rate of population. The high population growth rates are due to high birth rate and fast declining death rates due to better sanitation and health facilities. However, the capacities to absorb increasing manpower are much weaker. Furthermore, the process of economic development tends to be more capital intensive under modern technological conditions, and hence, has less potential of employment generation in the short run. Since the total size of the population is already large, there is urgency for speedy achievement of demographic transition from high birth rate to low birth rate resulting in lower population growth. The effects of the rapid population growth in India like providing employment to growing population, problem of utilisation of manpower, over-strained infrastructure, pressure on land and other renewable natural resources, increased cost of production and Inequitable distribution of income are hindering with development of the country. The aim of the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme is paying great attention towards the reproductive health problems of the community people as it is the leading cause of the ill health as well as the death of the pregnant women worldwide. It has been distinguished that around 800 women are dying daily in the procedure of giving birth to a baby. Sexuality related issues are very necessary to get solved among youths especially between 15 to 19 years of age as according to the statistics it is noted that around 15 million women of this age give birth every year as well as around 4 million go through for abortion. This day promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. Main objectives of celebrating the world population day are: It is celebrated to protect and empower youths of both gender like girls and boys. Demand for some effective laws and policies implementation in order to protect girl child rights. To make sure about the access of equal primary education to both girls and boys. Make sure the easy access of reproductive health services everywhere as part the basic primary health for each couple. “Every State has the primary duty to protect its own population from grave and sustained violations of human rights, as well as from the consequences of humanitarian crisis, whether natural or man-made”. Some of the activities include seminar discussions, educational competitions, educational information sessions, essay writing competition, public contests on various topics, poster distribution, songs, sports activity, speeches, poems, artwork, slogans, themes and messages distribution, workshops, lectures, debates, round table discussions, news distribution through press conferences, TV channels and news channels, relay of population related programmes on radio and television and so many. Various health organizations and population divisions works together to solve population issues by organizing conferences, research works, meetings, project analysis etc. Europe is breaking new ground as the first region in recorded history to see a population decline over the long-term future. Birth rate decreases and low fertility rates in Eastern Europe and Russia will cause an estimated population decrease. Even though Earth’s population is estimated to level off and eventually begin declining, there is a point in which Earth will be unable to sustain human life. The ability of a planet to sustain life is called planetary habitability. It is estimated that Earth will be able to sustain human life for approximately another billion years or so, but factors like war, climate change and food shortages could wipe us out long before that if we aren’t careful to keep our planet healthy.
