Artificial lake, Ropeway over Tawi to be completed by March 2018: Govt

Failed after missing several deadlines and to clear the air over the completion of Artificial Lake Project and Ropeway project over river Tawi, the government finally announced that both the projects will be completed well in time.
This was stated by Minister in charge tourism against a query raised by MLC Ramesh Arora.
In his reply, the minister in charge said that the irrigation & flood control department has undertaken construction of design and construction of Auto Mechanically operated Barrage across River Tawi under which Artificial Lake is one of the major components. He further added that the work on the project is targeted to be completed by the end of March 2018.
Talking to Young Bites Vibhuti Gupta a tourist from Delhi said that from several years we are listening about these projects and hopeful that next year they will enjoy their vacations will spend their time visiting both these places too.
She further added that indeed these projects will open new avenues for job and tourism in Jammu.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the lake project was approved by the then Governor Jagmohan in 1986. After much delay, the state government initiated the process for on construction in 2008-09.
After several technical and legal issues, the design was made by the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and same was approved by the Central Water Commission. The project had already jumped several deadlines for completion, besides there were several speculations earlier that the government has topped the idea of Artificial Lake over Tawi.
With the announcement by the concerned Minister the people of Jammu have called it a positive step only if the project is completed in the fixed time frame of March 2018
Besides the artificial lake project , one of the cable car project from three cable car projects which were in pipeline for Jammu region which is due for commissioning by March 2018, the government is committed to completing the cable car project on the Tawi by March this year.
The reply reads that the 48-m section-II of the cable car from Bahu Fort to Mahamaya Park is scheduled to be completed by March-end. However, the 1,184-m section-II from Peerkho to Mahamaya park is expected to be completed by May as critical components and imported parts are to be procured from Turkey, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
