Feminist women in medicine make a profound difference in not only what medical technologies are used, but also in the way doctors view their patients as human beings. However, it is not only the "remarkable" or "extraordinary" woman who makes the difference. Women, by their very presence, bring a perspective and a value system to their environment far different from the male-dominated view that has persisted for too long.
This time the woman we are talking about is Dr Usha Sharma, Physician, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Talking with YoungBites, she narrated her story of being brought by mother due to the death of her father. Inspite of facing hurdles, her family members supported her in every respect and due the support of her family she completed her studies and became a successful doctor.
She strongly condemns sex determination. And she is against the people who abort their girl child in the womb. She says that a girl is a mother, sister, and the whole world is due to women. She has a strong thinking that girls should take care of themselves and they should not be hesitant in working. Today every girl should work, but at the same time she should be smart enough to face the world. Parents should encourage their girls to study and let them become what they want.
Girls should be respected. Any home which has one girl, two girls or three girls should feel lucky because the girl takes care of her family for her whole life.
Gone are the days that when the parents used to feel unhappy on the birth of girl because they used to start preparing for the dowry the day she was born, but now the min sets have changed, the girl child is being welcome with open hearts and the society is gradually changing.
